Students Explore V.C. Summer site during Nuclear Science Week
Carl Sease, an AP1000 Operations instructor at V.C. Summer Nuclear Station, shows Airport High School Students the reactor functions during a tour of the AP1000 control room simulator. Students from Airport High School were among more than 75 students and teachers who visited SCE&Gās V.C. Summer Nuclear Station as part of Nuclear Science Week in October.
While on site, students and teachers learned about the nuclear process and careers in the nuclear industry in addition to touring the V.C. Summer Units 2 and 3 construction site and AP1000 control room simulator. This was a unique opportunity for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs to see first-hand some of the careers available right here in South Carolina.
